Common Questions

What information must be on a UK invoice?

HMRC requires: unique invoice number, your business name and address, client name and address, invoice date, description of goods/services, amount charged, and VAT details (if registered). Experi includes all of this automatically.

What payment terms should I use?

Common UK payment terms are Net 14, Net 30, or 'Due on receipt'. Net 14 means payment due within 14 days. Choose terms that work for your cash flow. Experi helps you set and track payment terms.

Do I need to charge VAT?

Only if you're VAT registered (turnover over £90,000). If registered, you must charge 20% VAT and include your VAT number on invoices. Experi calculates VAT automatically when you need it.

How should I number my invoices?

HMRC requires sequential numbering (INV-001, INV-002, etc.). Never skip numbers or reuse them. Experi handles invoice numbering automatically so you're always compliant.
