Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

Protect your account with 2FA.

What Is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication requires:

  1. Something you know: Your password
  2. Something you have: Your phone

Even if someone gets your password, they can't access your account without your phone.

Enabling 2FA

  1. Go to Settings > Security
  2. Click Enable 2FA
  3. Install authenticator app (if needed)
  4. Scan QR code with app
  5. Enter 6-digit code
  6. Save backup codes

Authenticator Apps

Recommended apps:

  • Google Authenticator (iOS/Android)
  • Authy (iOS/Android)
  • Microsoft Authenticator (iOS/Android)
  • 1Password (includes TOTP)

Backup Codes

When enabling 2FA, you receive backup codes:

  • Save them securely
  • Use if you lose phone
  • Each code works once
  • Generate new ones anytime

Using 2FA

Every login requires:

  1. Enter email and password
  2. Open authenticator app
  3. Enter 6-digit code
  4. Access granted

Lost Phone?

If you lose your phone:

  1. Use backup code to log in
  2. Disable 2FA temporarily
  3. Get new phone
  4. Re-enable 2FA with new phone

Disabling 2FA

To turn off 2FA:

  1. Log in with 2FA
  2. Go to Settings > Security
  3. Click Disable 2FA
  4. Confirm with password

Warning: Only disable if absolutely necessary.
